Let me preface by saying I've been to Austin, TX and my family smokes their own delicious BBQ... I realize I've got the bar set high. But I know the techniques to smoking a really good brisket, and I honestly don't even know how this location of R&R could concoct such dry, tough brisket. And their ribs were clearly cooked too fast and too high because the fat didn't get a chance to render. I'm giving one extra star for the sides, service, and cleanliness of the place. The brisket and ribs were nothing shy of disappointing.
The ribs will always be the star here; I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. Enjoyed garlic mashers and kicked them up a notch by adding a pat of butter just for good measure! Ordered the beef gravy on the side and it made best friends with the roll - so good. Make sure you try the chicken, as well, it’s always perfectly smoked!
The barbecue here is really quite good. It is always a treat, whether it be pulled pork, chicken, beef, ribs, etc... but one beef (pun intended) that I have with them is that no matter what I do, I can not for the life of me get a fresh hush puppy here. They always taste like they were fried first thing in the morning and sat under a warmer until they became hard and sad. I've gone three separate times now and they have always been disappointing. There's not many places you can get hush puppies, so I wish they could do a better job with their handling times so that fresh product is served.
